Wedding Design at the Stanley Park Teahouse: Florist Edition

How to Decorate Your Ceremony at Ferguson Point

Just across from the parking lot of the Teahouse in Stanley Park is a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony space overlooking the Ocean called Ferguson Point. It is the perfect outdoor blank canvas for a simple yet beautiful ceremony, and after designing multiple weddings there, here is my advice on how to decorate your ceremony:

Have a floral installation as the backdrop for your ceremony that can easily be moved into the restaurant for your reception. This ceremony location has a few park benches behind where you’ll say ” I do.” Having a floral installation as your backdrop will hide those benches so all you see in the background of your photos is the beautiful tree overlooking the Ocean. Need proof? Look at the photos below to see how the natural and lush installation we designed for Asal and Amid’s wedding just perfectly hides the park benches (and anybody sitting on them!)

Keep in mind: This ceremony location is slightly sloped, so using podiums or other tall stands that aren’t properly secured into the ground is a recipe for disaster as soon as a big enough gust of wind comes along. Our floral installations are designed with weights keeping them steady in even the strongest of those oceanside winds!

Reception Tables in the Stanley Park Teahouse

One of my favourite parts about Weddings at the Teahouse in Stanley Park? The intimate reception space. While there are other ways to arrange the tables, every wedding I have designed flowers for there has had two long tables running the entire length of the room. Along with Gather Events and Co , who provided the beautiful table decor to go in between the centrepieces, the tables came alive with a full floral look. For two long tables, I recommend having a minimum of twelve medium sized centrepieces and around thirty bud vases with a few blooms in each one.

These centrepieces were designed using Floral Genius hairpin flower holders in low ceramic trays from Camilia Supply. The couple rented and returned the vases after the wedding – as most of our clients do to reduce waste in the wedding industry.
